Beyond the UK, Melitta’s workshops, holiday intensives and guest appearances have connected dancers in Croatia, Slovenia, Portugal and Germany, always with the mission to share the joy, rhythm and community spirit of Latin America.

About Melitta Siomos

Melitta Siomos is a professionally trained dancer, international performer, and multi-award-winning Bachata and Salsa instructor based in London. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she is one of the most respected and sought-after instructors in the UK Latin dance scene.

Her dance journey began at the age of 6, evolving from a childhood passion into a lifelong career rooted in dedication, performance, and community. Melitta holds a Trinity National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre and Dance from the prestigious Millennium Performing Arts College, and is a certified ISTD teacher in Modern Dance.

In 2019, she was crowned Bachata UK Champion, a title that helped solidify her status as one of the top Bachata instructors in the country.

Melitta is the founder of Pura Dance, a vibrant dance brand offering group classes, private 1-to-1 coaching, wedding dance training, and performance opportunities. She also leads the internationally acclaimed Pura Ladies teams – empowering women through dance across London, Plymouth, Munich, and Lisbon. Through her weekly Salsa and Bachata classes in Chiswick, Ealing, and Central London, and her coaching at festivals around Europe, Melitta helps students of all levels unlock their potential on the dance floor. Bachata is a romantic partner dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, known for its syncopated footwork, close connection, and heartfelt guitar-based music. Over time, the dance evolved as it spread across the world, especially in Europe.

This gave rise to Bachata Moderna, a smoother, more structured style that adds turns, lines, and modern partnerwork — and to Bachata Sensual which focuses on body movement, waves, isolations, and musical interpretation, danced to slower and more melodic tracks.

Today, both styles are hugely popular thanks to global artists like Romeo Santos, Prince Royce as well as social media spreading the dance worldwide.

What is the difference between Salsa & Bachata?

Salsa and Bachata are both vibrant Latin dances with distinct origins, music, and styles, each offering unique experiences. Salsa, with roots in Cuban Son and Afro-Cuban rhythms, tends to be fast-paced and energetic, often featuring intricate footwork and dynamic turn patterns with a lighter partner connection.

Bachata, originating from the Dominican Republic, is typically slower and more romantic, with simpler steps, sensual movements, and a closer connection between partners. While Salsa often leans toward vibrant energy and technical precision, Bachata is more inclined toward intimacy and emotional expression. Exploring both can be a great way to discover what resonates with your personal style!

At Pura Nights Salsa & Bachata , we focus on Salsa Crossbody style (On1), blending technique, musicality, and social connection in every class.

Whether you’re new to Salsa or looking to refine your skills, you’ll find a welcoming space to grow and enjoy the dance. We offer 3 Levels of dance classes every week and everyone is welcome to join us, from absolute Beginner to Advanced level.

While the answer ultimately depends on you, we believe that if you're new to dancing, you can start with any style. The more styles you explore, the more versatile and confident you'll become, and the more fun you'll have on the dance floor! Like anything in life, everyone has their own preferences.
